Gridlife GLTC at Lime Rock Park

Round 5 of Gridlife Touring Cup took the paddock to Lime Rock Park, and for Nick that meant a home race. A track he knows better than anyone he was racing against, in front of the people who have watched the car come together. Extra pressure, and extra reason to get it right.
It was also the first full weekend with Nick running a package of our parts on his E36, which made it one of the most useful events on our calendar so far. A GLTC car gets used hard, session after session, by a driver chasing a championship. That is a lot of data in a short space of time.
01 — WHY GLTCA championship car gathers data fast
A GLTC weekend puts a car through practice, qualifying and four races, all at competition pace. Everything gets used at ten tenths, repeatedly, with a driver who has a reason to push. That is what makes it such a good environment for us to gather data in.
Lime Rock adds to that. It is short and quick with constant elevation change, so the car is loading and unloading all lap and the floor sees plenty of contact. Combine that with the volume of running a race weekend gives you and you learn a lot in three days.


02 — THE PARTSTitanium skid blocks under the splitter
The part we were watching most closely was the titanium skid blocks. Their job is simple to describe and difficult to get right: protect the splitter when the car bottoms out, and keep the splitter working after it does.
When a splitter grounds on a compression, two things usually go wrong. The leading edge takes damage, and the sealed underside that generates the downforce gets disturbed, so the aero balance shifts mid-corner right when the driver is committed. The skid blocks take that impact instead, sliding across the surface rather than digging in.

- The splitter's leading edge stays intact through repeated contact
- Aero performance stays consistent lap after lap, not just on the clean laps
- Replaceable wear item, so the blocks take the damage and the splitter does not
And the visual side of it does not hurt either. When the car compresses over a crest and the blocks light up, you can see exactly how hard the platform is working.

Nick was in the mix from the first session. Not hanging on at the back of the lead group, but genuinely racing at the front, with consistent lap times, clean wheel-to-wheel work in traffic, and a car that clearly gave him the confidence to lean on it.
The clearest measure of that pace came on the stopwatch: a 57.465 — the quickest lap of the session, quicker than the car that started from the front. Around a lap as short as Lime Rock, where the whole field is separated by tenths, that is a serious number.
The breakthrough came in race 4, where he put it all together and took the win. Across the weekend that added up to P3 overall, against a grid that does not hand anything out for free.


04 — WHAT WE TAKE AWAYMore conditions, more confidence
Our own test programme is where the parts are developed and validated, and that work does not stop. What running with Nick adds is breadth: a different car setup, a different driver, different tracks, different surfaces and temperatures. The more conditions a part sees, the more confident we are signing it off.
Every data point from Lime Rock goes back into the same loop as our own testing: build it, run it in as many conditions as we can, refine it, repeat.

A big thank you to Nick and his team for making this possible. Running a competitive GLTC programme is hard enough without also being the proving ground for someone else's development parts, and they have been open, patient and genuinely useful throughout.
We are proud to be working with Nick on making his E36 quicker and more competitive, and we are looking forward to a lot more racing together.
