The perfect Short Shifter is here! Designed to fit COMPLETELY under the dashboard and center console for a complete OEM+ look. On the E36 it requires no modification whatsoever, on the E46 only the little compartment box needs to be modified. Luckily this is an easily replaceable part and completely out of sight once installed.
In our opinion a shortshifter is a must on any (older) BMW. The original shifter has quite some slop in it, especially when all the bushings are worn out! When driving and cornering hard it can be tricky to find the right gear and there's no reverse lockout. Even when all shifter components are as new, the transmission has slop in it by default and a relatively weak centering spring.
Our shortshifter fixes all of the above problems:
Shorter throw
Reverse lockout preventing accidentally going into the reverse port.
Strong self centering spring always keeping the shifter dead center.
Adjustable limiter pins to prevent excess sideways movement.
Taller shifter allowing you to shift quicker (less hand to shifter movement)
Completely CNC milled for near zero flex.
Additionally, the feel of shifting will completely change. You will hear a distinct "click" shifting into gears, which will give you the confidence of being in gear.
Made from high grade 7075 aluminium for ultimate quality and durability. Including a shift knob made from POM for a soft touch.
We also offer a install kit. This will allow you to install the shifter without having to do any drilling on the chassis, making the install completely reversible.
We also recommend upgraded engine and transmission mounts, as the shifter will be chassis mounted it's important that there's no excess movement of the drivetrain.
